Azure Kingfisher

We had previously seen Azure Kingfishers, and got close to them, on our Yellow Water boat trips in Kakadu NP. However, for this Daintree River boat trip in Queensland we were fortunate to find a bird with the still quite low morning sun on it. Having managed to get the prime places at the front of this small boat, it was amazing how close an approach the bird allowed (down to c. 7m). Even so, this shot required a high ISO setting (3200), a relatively slow shutter speed (1/200 sec) and a fair amount of cropping.
